Getting started with Origami for kids

First of all the beauty of origami is all that is needed is paper.  There are specialised origami papers that can be brought on many sites including Japanese Paper  and Japan Crafts.

To get started plain A4 paper can be used or thicker paper or thin cardboard.  An adult  may need to cut or learn to rip the paper into squares for some of the origami models.  The paper can also be painted or coloured in after  the model has been made. Here is a list of items that will be needed to get started:

  1. Plain A4 paper or origami paper.  Thicker paper or thin card works the best.
  2. Pens and Pencils (Depending on the model)
  3. Origami book or internet access
  4. Scissors
