ABOUT ME
Founder – Amanda Borrett
Hey there, I’m Amanda (or Mands as my mates call me). I’m a Sydney girl, mama of 2 gorgeous toddlers and arts marketing manager by trade. I love strong skinny lattes, karaoke, cardigans, yoga and I make a killer omelette.
I’m a bit of a dag at heart – and use words like thebomb.com, bomb diggity and radical. I dislike hecklers, slow wi-fi, spiders and gherkins on burgers.
For the last 12 years I’ve worked behind the scenes in the arts and entertainment industry in Australia and the UK. I’ve worked in marketing and PR for shows such as Mary Poppins, Les Misérables, Oliver!, Avenue Q, King Kong, War Horse, Strictly Ballroom the Musical and Walking with Dinosaurs just to name (drop) a few.
To say I fell completely down the rabbit hole into this world would be an understatement – it seriously makes me happy spreading the word about the joy of live theatre, music and the arts and I’ve been really lucky to be able to promote this community and call it my job.
I can’t imagine a life without it, or as the greats would put it “who can live without it, I ask in all honesty – what would life be? Without a song or a dance what are we? So I say thank you for the music – for giving it to me.” #foreverabba 😉
Why I created Creative Kids Hub
Since becoming a mama, I’ve become determined to foster a love and appreciation for the arts in my kids (and I figured there must be other folks out there that feel the same).
I want to encourage their creativity as much as I can. Or in the very least have the best damn dress-up box in town!
But when I went in search for dance and music classes for my daughter in my area, I was a little underwhelmed with the options when searching online and the experience was time consuming (picking up flyers, asking in local Facebook groups, trawling Google with different search terms to try to find and compare activities in our immediate local area and also neighbouring areas).
I realised there were some great businesses providing epic experiences for kids but their online presence just wasn’t there (or what it could be).
I couldn’t find that one little magical hub that had it all … so I decided to created it.
CREATIVE KIDS HUB is my deep dive into a new business world and a chance to hopefully connect kids, families, creatives, communities at the same time.
Most of all, I am really pumped to get you and your kids inspired and diving into local creative stuff.
